Sterling Fire's Testing Standards
Our inspection, testing, and reporting methods conform to the B.C. Fire Code standards. The information we gather from our inspection procedures can allow us to:
- configure your equipment to run more efficiently and
- offer you ways to increase the life of your equipment.
During our inspection of your equipment, we will gladly train your staff to conduct the monthly testing that is required by the B.C. Fire Code and the Manufacturer's standards.
B.C. Fire Code Requirements
Inspection of Unit Equipment
6.8.1.6. (1) Self-contained emergency light unit equipment shall be inspected monthly to ensure that
- pilot lights are functioning and not obviously damaged or obstructed;
- the terminal connections are clean, free of corrosion and lubricated when necessary;
- the terminal clamps are clean and tight as per manufacturer's specifications; and
- the battery surface is kept clean and dry.
6.8.1.6. (2) Self-contained emergency lighting unit equipment shall be tested
- monthly to ensure that emergency lights will function upon failure of primary power supply and
- annually to ensure that the units will provide emergency lighting for the duration equal to the design criterion under simulated power failure conditions.
6.8.1.6. (3) After completion of the test required in clause (2)(b), the charging conditions for voltage and current and the recovery period shall be tested to ensure that the charging system is functioning in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
