Service Agreements | Requirements & Standards | Sterling Fire & Safety Services Ltd. offers one of the most comprehensive Service Agreements in the industry. It clearly spells out the expectations and requirements of both the Client and ourselves; gives firm pricing for service work, emergency call outs and materials; specifies the safety equipment to inspected and maintained; and explains some of our testing procedures. It is an agreement, not a contract, and cancellable with 30 days notice by either party. 1. Sterling will offer a free 1/2 hour consultation on the codes and standards before the testing of safety systems to inform the Client of minimum standards and to ensure maximum safety. 2. Sterling provides three levels of fire alarm servicing: Inspection - visual inspection and manual testing of the system. Repair - replacing of deficient parts or materials. Certification - the system is certified on completion of the inspection and all necessary repair work. 3. All service work will be done according to the standards of the Underwriter's Laboratories of Canada, National Fire Protection Association, B.C. Fire Code and all local authorities. 4. All fire alarm testing will be conducted in accordance with the Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada Standards for Testing Fire Alarm Systems (ULC-S536- M 86 or CAN/ULC-S536-97) as specified in the B.C. Fire Code. 5. All fire alarm testing will be conducted by two (2) technicians or one (1) technician and a second person provided by the owner or management of the site, who has sufficient understanding about the operations of the fire alarm system, as per ULC-S536-M86 and CAN/ULC-536-97. This person will have to provide specific information about the operations of the fire alarm control unit. 6. All deficiencies to any safety system will be noted and explained to the Client. The Client is responsible for authorizing any necessary repairs. 7. No safety system having deficiencies or requiring further service will be tagged until the necessary repairs have been completed. 8. Upon completion of the annual inspection of the building, of all necessary repairs, and compliance with minimum code standards, a U.L.C. Certificate will be given, if requested, for the Fire Alarm System. 9. Sterling is not responsible for any events causing alarms over which they have no control, i.e. water damage, electrical shorts or surges, building damage, etc. 10. The Client will provide Sterling the right to enter the property and provide Sterling access to locations of service during annual inspections and emergency call outs. Sterling will not enter any suite or restricted area without being accompanied by management. 11. Sterling will confirm 24 hours in advance, and be on time for, all booked appointments. 12. Sterling will confirm that the appropriate Fire Dept. has been notified of any alarm testing before commencing, and notify them again upon completion. 13. Service work to be performed, other than outlined in this agreement, shall be discussed by the Client and Sterling and written in a separate agreement. 14. All invoices will be itemized for the Clients' convenience. 15. The price shall be in effect for the duration of this agreement, at which time a new price may be fixed. 16. Any accounts remaining unpaid after thirty (30) days from the invoice date shall be subject to interest charges in the amount of 2% per month.
Emergency Call Outs 1. Sterling will provide emergency call out services at the rate of: 1 1/2 times your current service rate with a 2. A written report of all problems and repairs will be signed by the manager on the site before the technician leaves the site. 4. All parts and materials used during an emergency call out will be charged out as per the price list attached to the Service Agreement. 5.
